The beauty of nature goes hand in hand with its unforgiving rawness. That is central in Shelter 2, and one of the reasons we chose to make a game about a Lynx. They are in middle of the food chain, and there are far more vicious things out on the cold tundra...

Guide a powerful Lynx through vast open landscapes. Give birth to your cubs, raise and strengthen them by mastering your skills for hunting prey. Explore the wild beauty of nature and do everything possible to prepare your family for the vicious entities dwelling on the cold tundra.

Shelter 2 portraits a mother lynx and her life cycle, starting as a pregnant animal preparing her den for the coming litter, giving birth, and continuing in to a journey of parenthood where nurturing her cubs is paramount for survival.

The more you feed the stronger you and your cubs will become, and failing to find food will lead to dire consequences. To avoid starvation there are many features to master, such as different types of movements, jumps and techniques for hunting prey. Besides finding food you must make sure to have a good den, see that your cubs drink water from nearby rivers, and make sure to call them close when they wander to far away.

A vast wilderness awaits
Set out to explore several huge open territories from a safe haven - the den. A central place in the world where the lynx can always return to, either to gather strength, or to place bone trophies and other pickups such as rare plants and leafs that can be found in hidden places throughout the vast wilderness.

The world of Shelter 2 portraits natures borderless beauty, and its melancholic rawness. The music is once again created by Retro Family and the visuals have been reinvented with dense atmosphere and lighting over the patterned graphical Art-style.

Shelter 1 was received positively and got favorable reviews on the graphics and sound, as well as the emotional impact that it evoked. Reviewers gave mixed reactions when it came to the difficulty and length. Shelter 1 was released on 28 August 2013 after being accepted through Steam Greenlight. In the game players control a mother badger who must protect and feed her cubs whilst travelling from their burrow to a new one. During the journey the cubs must be fed and are in danger from threats such as birds of prey and wildfires.

  • Refined hunting mechanics.
  • Large open terretories.
  • More movement controls and features.
  • Longer playthrough experience.
  • Increased replayability.

About Might And Delight

Might and Delight was formed in early 2010. The core team has worked for various high profile titles such as Mirrors Edge, Battlefield, and Killzone, but most notably together on Capcoms Bionic Commando: Rearmed. At that time we discovered we had a knack for coming up with innovative and charming ideas which further evolved into a tight knit friendship and now company of our own.
The team has changed and grown since then, and now we are a brave mix of industry veterans and indie developers with a shared ambition to always prioritize playfulness and innovative ideas over established norms. Our single biggest and most important value is to always be thorough and theoretical in our approach to game-making. Rearmed has taught us how crucial it is to analyze and understand the context of what you are trying to create. It is this way of working that influences every aspect of our work pipeline and we hope it shines through in the games we create.
